Creating a Virtual Bookshelf
I've finally gotten around to updating my little bookshelf feature on my sidebar. Basically, I've taken one book that I'm reading for each class this semester and posted it below. Eventually I hope to write a short little Amazon-style review of each after my semester is over (we'll see if I get around to that).
Anyway, for now:
- Pauline Literature: Apostle of the Crucified Lord - Michael J. Gorman: Excellent introduction to the theology and writing of St. Paul
- Human Person & Grace: The Meaning of Grace - Charles Journet: Masterful treatment of theology of grace by Cardinal Journet
- Biblical Hebrew 2: Introduction to Biblical Hebrew - Thomas O. Lambdin: Not without it's flaws, but the standard for teaching Biblical Hebrew nonetheless
- Sacramental Life of the Church: A Key to the Doctrine of the Eucharist - Abbot Vonier: An exquisite treatment of the sacraments using St. Thomas
- Trinity/Christology: Early Christian Doctrines - J. N. D. Kelly: Rather academic, but the standard resource for the study of the early development of Christian doctrine
- Bioethics & The New Evangelization: Catholic Bioethics and the Gift of Human Life - William E. May: Bill May brings his expertise to the field of Bioethics.
