It's Official! The Pope uses an iPod! ...No Joke!

    I'm speechless.

My prediction of Jan. 20 ("At this point, I'll admit I'm half waiting for dear Benny to pull out one of those white iPods at the next Wednesday audience") actually became true!

"VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- A group of Vatican Radio employees gave Pope Benedict XVI a brand new iPod nano loaded with special Vatican Radio programming and classical music.

To honor the pope's first visit to the radio's broadcasting headquarters, the radio's technical staff decided the pencil-thin, state-of-the-art audio player would make the perfect gift.

Now that Vatican Radio offers podcasts in eight different languages, the pope has the technological capability to plug in and import the radio's audio files."

Our Pope has an iPod... I don't even have an iPod (I've got an off-brand substitute).

I can envision scenes like this happening in the Vatican:

Pope Benedict: *listening to Mozart requiem Mass on his iPod*
Top Vatican Aid: "Your Holiness, what about writing your homily for Palm Sunday Mass?"
Pope Benedict: *holds up hand and motions to iPod*
Cardinal Arinze walks in, pulls out his video iPod: "Hey, Holy Father, if you wanna see something cool, check dis out."

What a world. I can't wait for the Encyclical "iPodum Novarum."

(Tell me you can deny it's a possibility.)
