A little more on Pope Benedict's Saturno hat...

Rather obvious, but just so we don't think that the Pope is just a fashion bug:

"The saturno was a practical choice for the Pope's public appearance on a very warm and sunny day in Rome. His Wednesday audience on September 5 was the first to be held outdoors at the Vatican since early July. During the hot weeks of August, the Pope's weekly audiences were held indoors in the Paul VI auditorium, or in the courtyard of his summer residence in the comparative cool of lakeside Castel Gandolfo."
