AmP Blogging the Michigan '06 Election

I'm going to be updating this post throughout the day and into the night, covering the election results of Pro-Life candidates Dick DeVos (governor), Mike Cox (attorney general), Terry Lynn Land (secretary of state), Michael Bouchard (senate) and Mike Rogers (congress).

    Important links:

11:30 AM "Michigan Might Be Interesting" by PoliPundit. Lays out the case that the latest poll numbers could be very encouraging for DeVos since it shows that Graholm may have fallen below the critical 50% of the vote she needs to win as an incumbant. Good tracking analysis.

12:45 PM: "Granholm, DeVos cast ballots" // "Stabenow, Bouchard square off for U.S. Senate"

8:12 PM: You can watch a live video of MSNBC's election coverage here (click "Hot Switch" on the upper right of the page). Michigan polls closed about 12 minutes ago so we should see some initial returns soon...

9:05 PM: MSNBC just called the Michigan governor's race for Granholm to win, and I think that looks pretty reasonable, sadly. Looks like Stabenow will win as well. On the plus side (if you can call it that), it looks like Prop 2 will pass...

9:31 PM: No results for Rogers yet. Bouchard apparently had his website attacked today [more].

10:10 PM: Some good news: Mike Rogers is looking very good // "Cox cruises to re-election," // "Land wins second term" // ... and the bad news: anti-affirmative action prop 2 is now "too close to call" (but I think it will still pass). Meanwhile, Granholm has it in the bag, perhaps by double digits [source].

11:16 PM: Cox, Land and Rogers are in. DeVos and Bouchard have definitely lost. The SD abortion ban isn't doing well, either. And the Democrats might win the house and the senate. Sic transit gloria mundi (if it was ever there to begin with). Oh well, it's going to be a long winter and there's alot of work to do. As for me, I think it's time to recharge with some sleep - tomorrow's a new day, after all!
