Follow the money (pro-aborts --> "Catholic" organizations)

"Catholics United" and "Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good", first of all, don't deserve the name "Catholic."
I've written before about Catholics United, showing them to be a pro-democrat front group.
Archbishop Chaput has criticized both groups by name:

"[I think] the work of Democratic-friendly groups like Catholics United and Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good, [has] done a disservice to the Church."

Yesterday, someone exposed where these two groups get their funding (formatting mine):

Catholic League president Bill Donohue exposes the nexus between George Soros and two left-wing Catholic groups, Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good and Catholics United:

“In 2003, after left-wing mogul George Soros blamed Jews for anti-Semitism, the ADL branded his comments ‘obscene.’ Two years later, I accused him of anti-Catholicism when his group, MoveOn.org, posted a picture of a smiling Pope Benedict XVI holding a gavel outside the U.S. Supreme Court, along with the following inscription: ‘God Already Has a Job…He does not need one on the Supreme Court.’

“Why is this relevant? Because this same bigot is connected to two apologists for abortion rights, Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good and Catholics United. In 2006, Soros’ Open Society Institute gave Catholics in Alliance $100,000 (double the amount he gave in 2005), and in the same year Catholics in Alliance listed Catholics United on its 990 as an organization with which it has a formal relationship. John Podesta, who runs the Soros-funded organization, Center for American Progress, admits that he works closely with Catholics in Alliance and Catholics United. The Center for American Progress is also the sponsor of Faith and Public Life.

George Soros also gives money to "Catholics for Choice", a group I think everyone (except Catholics for Choice) at this point will admit falls completely outside the category of Catholic.
Donohue concludes by saying these three groups all serve Soros' agenda, namely "to make support for abortion rights a respectable Catholic position."
Just look at some of the other places Soros has sent his money (source):
    • $500,000 to the Pro-Choice Education Project to launch a (pro-abortion rights) "public education and media strategy,"
    • $80,000 over three years to the Gay Straight Alliance Network, to promote "a traveling photo documentary exhibit by lesbian, gay, transgender, queer and questioning youth,"
    • $35,000 to the Abortion Access Project.
The fact that these three "Catholic" groups mentioned above take large amounts of money from pro-aborts like Soros is extremely revealing, especially when one considers how much exposure these groups receive. I am currently "debating", for instance, both Catholics United and Catholics for Choice at Opposing Views ("debating" is a generous word to use for people who have such thin arguments).
Moreover, when reporting stories related to the Catholic vote in 2008, I continually come across members of these organizations being quoted extensively in the mainstream media. They are the "face" of the pro-Obama Catholic voter, for better or worse, and their arguments for their intepretation of Catholic teaching is not so different from other arguments used to justify voting for pro-choice politicians.
Bottom line: if these organizations were truly "Catholic", they wouldn't take money from Soros.
Follow the money, and you'll discover what really makes them tick.

update: Chris Korzen, president of Catholics United, sent an email to Deal Hudson:

"Gentlemen - this is just plain silly. We don't take any money from OSI but I would have absolutely no problem doing so... the organization that's doing some great work. Let's get back to the issues, please." Chris

"*cough* nothing to see here, gentleman. That's right - just move along now! *cough*"
