- No comment on the first two
- Bishop Kevin Farrell of Dallas was a very outspoken bishop and won comfortably
- Coadjutor Bishop Jaime Soto of Sacramento has dished out some needed truths himself
- Auxiliary Bishop Gabino Zavala of Los Angeles over Bishop Robert Finn of Kansas City-St Joseph is perhaps the most interesting. Finn is a firebrand on behalf of life, while Zavala - not so much.
- Similarly, Naumann joined his words with Finn .... but DiNardo is no lightweight himself
- Wuerl for Doctrine seems straightforward enough, he's articulate and knows his stuff
And just to shut down one line of disagreement at the outset: I'm not trying to evaluate the "goodness" of these bishops based only on how vocally they preach the Church's teaching about unborn life.
However, the other side will be going over these chair elections with a fine-tooth comb trying to do the opposite - saying that whenever an outspoken bishop isn't chosen, somehow the American bishops are shunning them. I don't think that is the case. And either way, it's best to know a little bit about their records.
