AmP quoted in LifeSiteNews about Dolan Installation applause

It's nice to provide first-hand reporting for a change:

"At the phrase 'tiny baby in the womb' a sharp staccato applause began (from what I could hear) originating from the priests," popular American Papist blogger Thomas Peters, who was in attendance, told LifeSiteNews.com. Peters said the "violent" applause, which lasted about half a minute, led to a standing ovation by the congregation and nearly all the priests. "

My personal feeling was that it was a 'moment' for the assembled gathering - a strong declaration of the Church's proud and uncompromising defense of unborn human life, especially at this crucial time in our nation and in particular at this transition taking place for the New York archdiocese," he added. Send Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards a message

I don't like Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards. There - I've said it.

Sure, I pray for her conversion (sincerely), but in the meantime, she's hell-bent on killing little kids. And that's not cool.

In fact, it's time she quit doing it.

LifeSiteNews has a smart way of sending her a clear message.

    Background from LSN:
You probably remember during the last election when an e-mail went around asking women to donate to Planned Parenthood in the name of Sarah Palin. PP raised quite a bit of money, and Palin received a hefty stack of thank you letters. Well, now it’s your turn.

By donating to LSN today, you're hitting two birds with one stone: helping support the world’s most widely read international pro-life and pro-family news service, and sending a strong message to Planned Parenthood about the sanctity of life.
    Get the message, Cecile?

And I'm serious- please say a prayer for her, too. I just did.

Tony Blair to become Catholic? Well, not so fast....

An editorial by John-Henry Weston of LifeSiteNews makes the point that "Before Tony Blair Becomes Catholic He Must Renounce Anti-Life and Anti-Family Stands." A quote:

The [UK] Telegraph reports that Blair will now likely enter the Catholic Church at Easter next year. The paper adds this interesting tidbit: "Despite being asked by Cardinal Basil Hume, the previous Archbishop of Westminster, to desist from receiving Communion because he has not converted to Catholicism, Mr Blair received Communion from Fr Michael Seed while he was at Downing Street and from Fr Timothy Russ and Fr Walsh at Chequers."

Plenty more troubling details in the editorial.

    LifeSiteNews headlines, April 11th

    LifeSiteNews:

Sad news about the legalization of abortion in Portugal, a topic I've covered in the past and one that has unfortunately progressed as was predicted.

As an aside, I'm beginning to kick around the idea of visiting Portugal and Spain this summer. I've always wanted to visit Oporto and Barcelona. To that end I'm going to try to study up on the situation of the Catholic church in these two countries before I visit, with an aim towards visiting some of the important Catholic destinations. I've heard that Fatima is rather difficult to visit? Any experiences?
